Body Found in Richardson Bay: Sheriff

SAUSALITO, CA —Sheriff's officials in Marin County are investigating the death of a man after his body was found in the bay near Sausalito this morning, according to a sheriff's office spokesman.

A boater first discovered the body in Richardson Bay and reported it to sheriff's officials around 8:15 a.m., sheriff's spokesman Lt. Doug Pittman said.

A sheriff's marine patrol, as well as units from the Southern Marin Fire Protection District, arrived at the scene and brought the body to shore. After examining the body, emergency crews did not find any obvious signs of death, according to Pittman.

The Marin County coroner's office also responded to the scene. The victim was described as a white male, possibly in his 30s, Pittman said.

"Our goal now is to investigate the cause and manner and eventually to determine the time of death," Pittman said.
