Explosion, Fire Damage Buildings, Close Highway In Stinson Beach
An explosion and subsequent fire damaged multiple buildings and shut down a stretch of Highway 1 Tuesday morning in Stinson Beach.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — An explosion and subsequent fire damaged multiple buildings and shut down a stretch of Highway 1 Tuesday morning in Stinson Beach.
The explosion and fire were reported at 8:42 a.m. along the 3400 block of Shoreline Highway, according to the Marin County Fire Department. The fire destroyed two buildings and damaged two others. Two people suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention and were released from the scene.
The fire was under control by late Tuesday morning, but crews were expected to remain on the scene for most of the day, according to Marin County Fire. PG&E crews powered down the immediate area while clean-up was underway, while the CHP assisted with diverting traffic.

Authorities shut down Highway 1 at Stinson Beach in both directions. Officials advised the public to avoid the area.
The cause of the explosion remained under investigation.
