Two residents hope to occupy the mayor's office--the incumbent and his challenger, a local leader in the Occupy movement.

Mayor Esteves Challenged on November Ballot


Two names will appear on the November ballot for Milpitas mayor--encumbent Jose Esteves and challenger Rob Means. Both officially qualified for the ballot Monday.

Means is a businessman who  because of his battle with the city over the local sign ordinance. In fact, backed by the ACLU, he's suing the city that he wants to run.

Esteves has been mayor since 2002. He has guided the city through tough economic times, including the privatization this year of some city services.
