Pedestrian on Sidewalk Killed By Car

MILPITAS, CA — A pedestrian standing on the sidewalk was hit and killed by a car at 9:45 Sunday morning, according to Milpitas Police. The victim was pronounced dead the the scene. The victim's name has not yet been released.
It happened at the corner of the northbound I-880 off ramp and eastbound state highway 237.
The car also took out the utility box at the corner, knocking out the traffic signal for most of the day. The intersection became a three-way stop, causing a serious traffic backup.

The Subaru's driver and passenger were not injured in the collision. Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
