Challenger Wendy Bucknum raised more money than any of the six city council candidates prior to October.

Bucknum received $9,000 from the California Real Estate Political Action Committee. This PAC supports the interests of the California Board of Realtors.

She received $1,000 from former Mission Viejo City Council member Roger Faubel of Lake Forest, who owns a high-profile public relations firm. Another $1,000 was given to her by the Orange County Auto Dealers Association.

Read about other candidate finances here:

Bucknum's campaign has spent about $27,400 this year. She spent $1,000 at Councilman Dave Leckness's Kwik Kopy Printing for brochures, according to state forms. She spent $1,300 on food and $275 on wine for a fundraiser at Scarantino's Italian Grill in Lake Forest.

The candidate has spent $3,800 on lawn signs, $5,400 on campaign consulting and $1,100 on mailers. Another $670 was spent on advertising in the Casta Courier, a newsletter for the city's largest gated retirement community.
