Overview: This tiny café opens at lunchtime, serving healthy fast food in the form of sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads and stuffed baked potatoes. The café also has plans to stay open for the street fair in the summer, and will feature live musical entertainment in the courtyard.
Décor: Menu items are written in vibrant colors on the blackboards behind the red counter. In addition to a soda fountain and a glass case with drinks and sandwiches, there are two tables inside. Most of their seating is outdoors on the sidewalk or in the small adjoining courtyard, so this is a great place to enjoy lunch in the California sunshine.
Drinks: Fountain Drinks, Bottled Water, Snapple, Vitamin Water, Chai Tea Latte, and Chai Tea or Fresh Fruit Smoothies.
Salads: In the range of $5.89 to $7.39, salads include “Pralines and Pears” with greens, bleu cheese, and balsamic dressing, and the “Sunshine Salad” with greens, oranges, blueberries, bleu cheese, sliced almonds, and raspberry vinaigrette. Other offerings include Chinese Chicken Salad, Chicken Caeser Salad, Cobb Salad, and the Tostada Salad with mixed greens, diced chicken breast, corn, kidney beans, crunchy corn chips, green onion, tomato, avocado, cheddar cheese, and southwest dressing.
Sandwiches: Wraps and sandwiches range from $6.83 to $7.99. Two very popular choices are the Southwest Veggie Wrap with kidney beans, corn, green onions, lettuce, avocado, tomato, cheddar cheese, crunchy tortilla chips, and southwest dressing, and the Grilled Turkey Panini with bacon, cheddar, provolone, tomatos, and mayo on sourdough bread. Other wraps include “Anchors Away” with tuna, herb spread, green lettuce and tomato, as well as wraps made with turkey, roast beef, chicken salad, and BBQ chicken. Other Paninis and sandwiches andinclude a Zesty Roast Beef Panini, a Chicken Panini, Baldwin’s Classic Turkey Sandwich, and a Turkey Club.
Soups: Homemade soup selections vary daily and come as a Cup O’ Soup with a biscuit ($3.99), Bowl O’ Soup with two biscuits ($5.99), or a Sour Dough Soup Bowl ($6.99). Selections include Tomato Bisque, Chili, Broccoli Potato Cheese, Chicken with Wild Rice, Chicken Noodle, Chicken Tortilla, and Clam Chowder.
Additional Lunch Entrees: Stuffed Potatoes from $4.89 include the Classic with butter, sour cream and chives, Cheese &Trees with steamed broccoli and grated cheese, Texas Chili, Bacon & Cheese, Veggie Twist with broccoli and chili, or Veggie Medley with broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and cheddar. For $6.89, a Chicken Caeser or Chicken Ranch Stuffed Potato comes with roasted chicken, cheddar cheese, broccoli, croutons and Caeser or ranch dressing, and the BBQ Chicken Potato comes with roasted chicken, cheddar, green onions, and BBQ sauce.
The Gourmet Quesadilla ($7.99) comes with roasted chicken, cheddar, provolone, bacon, green onion, and a gourmet herb spread on a speciality tortilla. Chili “N’ Biscuits is $6.59, and Your Choice Combo with your choice of Wrap, Panini, or Sandwich, Cup of Soup, and House Salad is $8.95.
Desserts: A selection of cookies, including chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, snickerdoodle, and white chocolate macademia.
