Councilman Shaw to Return in the Fall

Councilman Clarence Shaw will return from his Army deployment to reclaim his council seat some time in September or October, he said.

Councilman Shaw to Return in the Fall

Councilman Clarence Shaw said Tuesday that he expects to return to Monrovia and reclaim his seat on the City Council in late September or early October.

Shaw would have about six months left on his term under that scenario and he told Patch Tuesday that he "fully intends" to run for reelection next April.

A major in the U.S. Army Reserves, Shaw left last July for a tour of duty that . His spot on the City Council was left open for several months until the council decided to , Larry Spicer, last December.

Following controversy over , the interim councilman that he intends to continue serving on the council until Shaw returns.

Shaw said that he did not expect to be called for another deployment "any time soon" after he returns. With 23 years of service under his belt, he is eligible to retire from the Army Reserves and may choose to do so in the next few years, he said.
