UPDATE: Three Men 'Badly' Burned in Monrovia House Fire UPDATE: Three Men 'Badly' Burned in Monrovia House Fire

Three people were injured in a house fire that erupted in a Monrovia home early Sunday morning, police said.

The fire broke out at a one-story home in the 200 block of East Walnut Avenue, at 5:01 a.m., according to Monrovia Police Sgt. Don Newton. Three males inside the house, all in their 20s, suffered severe burns as a result and one was trapped inside the home when police arrived, Newton said.

"They were badly burned," Newton said. "Officers were unable to get inside because of the flames."

The men were transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital and their prognosis is unknown, Newton said.

A "large quantity" of marijuana was found in the home and may have been involved in causing the fire, Newton said. Another police official reported that the fire was possibly caused by the occupants "making honey oil."
