Robots! Science Expo! Star Party! Oh my!

If you love robots, science or stars then come check out the Monrovia High Schools Math and Science Academy's Science & Technology Blast Off this Saturday Feb. 22nd.

Robotic Tournament
The Event Center is the venue for the LA FIRST Technology Challenge Regional Robotics Championships . This tournament features the best 48 teams to have competed in the LA region. These teams earned their slots by qualifying in one of eight LA qualifying tournaments.  

The field includes teams from all around Southern California and beyond. The Robogamers are coming all they way from New York. Also included in the field are six teams from the city of Monrovia. R.E.D., Kings & Queens, Suit Bots and Thavma represent Monrovia High School. Unibots and Cougarobotics represent Santa Fe Middle School. 

You can watch robotics in action from 10am-6pm in Monrovia High Schools Event Center. It is free and very spectator friendly. 

Science Expo & Star Party
For the second year the Monrovia High School Math & Science Academy (MASA) is pleased to host the MASA Science Expo and an evening Star Party in conjunction with the LA FTC Regional Championships. Both events are FREE and fun for all ages!

The Science Expo runs from 10am to 2pm in the quad and will feature some awesome science and technology booths along with clubs, games and other activities. Come see FIRST Robotics (FRC, FTC and FLL), Pasadena Radio Club, GAVRT (Radio Telescope), NASA's Deep Space Network, The Astronomical Society, The Planetary Society, The MHS Chess Club, Ask a Scientist, Lazers, The Santa Fe Dam RC Modelers Club (RC planes flying demos on the hour), Food and much more!

After the Expo and the robotics tournament hang around and check out the Star Party. Weather permitting telescopes will be out from 6pm-8pm in Friendship Circle (just south of the Expo)

  • 5:30PM – Robotics Awards Ceremony
  • 6:00PM – Star Party Begin
  • 8:00PM – Star Party End
