Suspect Arrested for Striking Victim With Car in Dispute; Victim Fights Back
Jorge Castillo, a 44-year-old Simi Valley man was booked Friday in Monrovia on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after hitting a man with his car during a parking lot dispute, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.
The argument occurred at 7 p.m. Friday in a parking lot in the 900 block of West Huntington Drive, Monrovia Police Lt. Michael Lee told the newspaper.
According to authorities, the 60-year-old victim asked the suspect to close his car door so that the victim's girlfriend could get in the car. Castillo refused and the victim closed the car door himself, the newspaper reported.
The suspect reportedly opened the car door again, hitting the victim. When the victim announced he was calling police and attempted to take a photo of the suspect's license plate, Castillo backed up, knocking the victim down.
After being challenged to a fight, the victim struck Castillo several times before the suspect fled. Police captured the suspect at a nearby motel and found methamphetamine and prescription drugs in his car, the newspaper reported.
