Affluent residential areas, including Montrose-La Crescenta, are recent targets by burglars and outlaw gangs, according to Glendale Police Chief Ron De Pompa.

"This isn't a Glendale problem. This is a regional problem in LA County," De Pompa said.

These groups are focusing on residential burglaries in the past two months, De Pompa said.

He believes that California state prison reform and overcrowding has allowed attributed to higher rates of burglaries in Glendale and the Tri-City area. These local cities include Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena.

Locals are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts at  Glendale APB. Residents can also check  Crime Mapping and are urged to report all suspicious activity to the Glendale Police Department either by dialing 911 or anonymously at  Glendale Crime Stoppers.
