A Tujunga man was arrested in connection with the killing of a 32-year-old woman, police announced Friday.

Detectives have spent more than 12 years investigating the death of Leticia Turrubiates, whose body was discovered in the 11700 block of Gladstone Avenue in March 2000, according to Officer Cleon Joseph of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The cause of death was attributed to blunt force trauma, and the motive for the killing remains unknown, Joseph said.

Evidence of DNA discovered at the crime scene was linked to a suspect identified as Jose Espinoza, and he was taken into custody Thursday at his home in Tujunga, Joseph said.

Espinoza was booked for murder and is being held without bail.
