Imagine what $3.6 million can do for Mountain View and other Silicon Valley organizations.

That's how much money the 2,000 employees from Microsoft's Silicon Valley in Mountain View campus fundraised in 2011 for organizations like Second Harvest Food Bank, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Computer History Museum. In total, Microsoft raised more than $100.5 millon and volunteered more than 400,000 hours for more than 18,000 community organizations across all of its offices last year.

According to a Microsoft spokesperson, Microsoft's Silicon Valley campus had a 80 percent participation rate, the highest participation of any of the Microsoft sites anywhere. Sid Espinosa, former Palo Alto Mayor and director of corporate citizenship at Microsoft Silicon Valley, coordinates philanthropic partnerships and efforts on the Mountain View campus.
