A large-scale manhunt took place this afternoon for a parolee associated with a Menlo Park investigation and with a last known address in Mountain View, a law enforcement official confirmed today.

"[The suspect] was not located," said Menlo Park Police Department Spokeswoman Nicole Acker. "I'm not sure if he's armed and dangerous."

The local search involved the and the U.S. Marshals associated with the California State Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations (CDCR), according to Acker.

The public information officer at CDCR Luis Patino did not have any information available yet from the field agents.

Also, the MVPD Spokeswoman Liz Wylie could not confirm any details about the search except that "we had had about 20 officers out there." MVPD was asked to assist at 1:12 p.m. and the Los Altos Police Department and Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety provided assistance.

Because of the ongoing investigation a description of the suspect has not been made public. However, Mountain View Patch observed an MVPD officer stop pedestrians on Central Avenue and show them a photograph of the suspect. None had seen him.

Patch also saw U.S. Marshals on Centre Street and Yuba Drive behind the dealership and then observed a larger search ensue on Central Avenue from the entrance to Stevens Creek Trail to Moffett Boulevard.

On Central Avenue several officers in unmarked vehicles patrolled the area while others canvassed on foot the various apartment complexes with canines and guns.

Also, a San Jose Police Department helicopter provided aerial assistance.

Patch observed the officers leave the Central Avenue area around 4:10 p.m.
