Car Fire On I-15 Freeway Stalls Traffic Through Murrieta Tuesday
An older car caught fire while navigating the northbound I-15 Freeway in Murrieta, Tuesday.
MURRIETA, CA — Multiple drivers heading northbound on the I-15 Freeway through Murrieta reported a car fully aflame Tuesday morning.
The "older-model Volkswagen" caught fire while navigating the northbound I-15 near the California Oaks Offramp around 8 a.m., California Highway Patrol reported.
The VW then pulled to the side of the road, where a Good Samaritan with a fire extinguisher stopped to lend a hand.
That person helped stop the blaze, CHP reported.
Murrieta Fire Department firefighters ensured the fire was out, then moved the VW from the I-15 to the California Oaks Road offramp.
No injuries were reported in this incident and by 8:30 a.m., traffic was moving through the area again.
