William Gary Simpson, 19, is accused of breaking into the Milkwood Lane family home of Saskia Burke early the morning of Dec. 20, 2011 and stabbing her to death.

Hearing Set For Teen's Alleged Killer

A preliminary hearing for the accused killer of an 18-year-old Murrieta woman was rescheduled to September.

William Gary Simpson, 19, is accused ofhome of Saskia Burke early the morning of Dec. 20, 2011.

He allegedly stabbed her to death.

The hearing was set for Sept. 14 at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley.

Simpson is charged with murder with the special circumstances of lying in wait and committing murder during the commission of a burglary; he faces a possible death penalty.

The defendant is also charged with attempted murder in alleged attacks on Burke's boyfriend and father.

He also faces sentence-enhancing allegations of great bodily injury, committing a serious felony and using a deadly weapon.

Though Simpson was not immediately found following the accused attack, he was  at his mother's Victorville home after a four-day manhunt.

The Burke family had taken Simpson in after he left his parents' home, but the suspected killer was asked to leave the home a year before the the fatal attack.

A motive for the attacks has not been disclosed.

Simpson was being held at the county jail on no bail, sheriff's records indicate.
