UPDATE 1:30 a.m. Nov. 14:

A Murrieta woman was in critical condition and undergoing surgery at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar after she was hit Tuesday night by a lifted pick-up truck while crossing a Murrieta street, police said.

"The pedestrian, identified as Alaina Cisneros, 26 years old, had (suffered) major head trauma in the collision and was unconscious in the roadway on Robards Way (at Jackson Avenue)," said Murrieta police Sgt. Jay Froboese, in a news release.

Froboese said the 17-year-old driver of the truck was making a left turn from northbound Jackson Avenue onto Robards Way at about 6:25 p.m. when the accident occurred.

The boy, who was not injured in the accident, told police he did not see the pedestrian, Froboese said.

The Murrieta Police Department received several 911 calls about the accident, he said.

"Several citizens in the area witnessed the collision and the investigation is ongoing," Froboese said.

ORIGINAL POST:

A 26-year-old woman was in serious condition after she was hit Tuesday night while crossing a Murrieta street.

The accident occurred at about 6:25 p.m. at Jackson Avenue and Robards Way, according to Murrieta police Sgt. Jim Gruwell, who, along with other traffic investigators, was still on scene as of 9 p.m.

Robards was closed at Jackson while the Murrieta Police Department's traffic investigators combed the site of the accident.

Gruwell said according to preliminary information, a 17-year-old boy driving a Chevy pick-up truck made a left turn onto Robards from Jackson.

"He struck a pedestrian who was walking across the street," Gruwell told Patch. "The pedestrian was struck by the front of his vehicle."

The woman was taken by ambulance to nearby Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar, according to the sergeant.

"She is at the hospital in serious condition," Gruwell said.

The driver of the vehicle was being interviewed at the scene, according to Gruwell.

He said the driver—with the permission of his mother—consented to a blood test and to be taken to the police station for further interviewing.

"We are not doing any kind of criminal investigation at this point," Gruwell said. "We do not suspect DUI at this point but our investigation is still ongoing and we can find things out later."

Yellow alphabetic markers were placed near evidence that lie on the roadway, such as a piece of clothing and possibly a cellphone.

"In any kind of serious or fatal accident, the traffic investigators get called out to do a full report," Gruwell said. "We mark all the items as evidence."

Both the driver and the victim were Murrieta residents, Gruwell said.
