Other facts

I am concerned that the opportunity MSJC offers residents of the Temecula valley is threatened by our struggling economy and state budget. Tuition increases and lack of access to needed courses have become commonplace. I propose that: MSJC should expand job training programs for career advancement in emerging technologies that provide needed skills for higher paying jobs. MSJC must be responsive to the needs of the community to offer the maximum number of requested academic courses. Vigilance is needed to maintain the lowest possible tuition costs.

I believe in the community college system because it helped me to find success in college. In 1987, I transferred from Riverside Community College to UC Berkeley, where I graduated in 1989. Later, I earned a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Azusa Pacific University.

For the past twenty years, I have worked as a secondary school principal, assistant principal, and teacher. I have established a new school PTA and am a Rotarian. I have coached soccer, cross country, and track.

I am a life-long resident of southwest Riverside County and am married with two children who attend local public schools.
