Updated: BottleRock Production Worker Killed Is Identified

A production worker at the BottleRock festival site in Napa killed in an industrial accident Tuesday has been identified.

UPDATE 10:15PM-

NAPA - A worker killed in an accident while dismantling a tent at the BottleRock festival site in Napa on Tuesday has been identified as a 36-year-old Sonoma resident, a Napa County sheriff's captain said.

Mateo Zavaleta Zarate was killed when he was dismantling a large metal A-frame tent that was used as a VIP lounge area for the BottleRock festival, which ended Sunday at the Napa Valley Expo, sheriff's Capt. Steve Blower said.

Medical staff working there got word at about 5 p.m. that the A-frame had fallen on Zarate.

He was pronounced dead about 40 minutes later.

Zarate was working for Richmond-based party equipment rental company Top Productions.

The state Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the accident, Blower said.

NAPA - A production worker at the BottleRock festival site in Napa was killed in an industrial accident Tuesday, according to firefighters.

The Napa Fire Department announced via Twitter at 6:43 p.m. that crews had responded to the Napa Valley Expo, which is listed at 575 Third Street.

Firefighters initially said the worker was injured while dismantling a stage, but later clarified that he'd been breaking down a VIP lounge area.

The victim has been identified only as a 35-year-old man working for Top Productions, in Richmond.

Further details were not immediately available.
