Napa City Attorney Struck by Pickup in Crosswalk

Napa City Attorney Michael Barrett suffered minor injuries when he was struck by a pickup truck in the crosswalk of First and Coombs streets, police said.

The collision took place about 4 p.m. Thursday when Matthew Maxwell was driving west on First Street, turning south onto Coombs Street, police said.

Barrett was walking across the street in the crosswalk when he was hit by Maxwell's pickup. He was taken by ambulance to Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

“The victim received bumps and bruises. It was a low-speed collision,” Napa Police Capt. Jeff Troendly said Friday morning.

Maxwell was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Troendly said, adding that alcohol is not considered a factor.
