Napa Driver Accused of DUI in Crash

A 32-year-old Napa man who tried to walk away from a traffic collision in the Westwood neighborhood early Sunday was arrested for allegedly causing it while DUI, police said. At the jail, he reportedly ran into more trouble.

Napa Driver Accused of DUI in Crash

A 32-year-old Napa man was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of DUI, driving without a valid license and possessing methamphetamine, according to an arrest summary from the City of Napa Police Department:

On 11/04/12 about 0211 hours officers were dispatched to a traffic accident in the 100 block of DeWitt Ave.

When the officers arrived the suspect, Mario Lopez (32 yrs. of Napa), got out of the driver’s side of the responsible vehicle and tried to walk away.

Lopez displayed symptoms of intoxication and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and not having a Ca. driver’s license.  

Upon a booking search at Napa County Department of Corrections, a controlled substance was located in his clothing. He was booked.

Another DUI arrest came less than half an hour earlier in the city's Alphabet Streets neighborhood, according to a police arrest summary:

On 11/4/12 at about 0147 hours,an officer stopped a vehicle driven by Johnny Pena (34 yrs. of Napa) for a vehicle code violation in the 1600 block of G St.

Upon contact with Pena, officers determined Pena was impaired while driving. Pena was taken into custody.

A search of Pena’s person resulted in the finding of a controlled substance. Pena was also in violation of probation.

Pena was booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections on suspicion of DUI, possession of a narcotic controlled substance and violation of probation, police said.
