By 10 a.m. Wednesday, Napa police had already caught up with two alleged criminals, according to a media log released by the :

On 6-8-11 at approximately 0730 hours, the Napa Police Department responded to the 500 block of Soscol Ave concerning a possible theft of gas from a vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and found suspect Maria Martinez (32 years) and an unknown male pouring gas into a Ford truck.

During the contact, Martinez provided officers with a false name. Officers discovered a second vehicle, Toyota station wagon, parked next to the Ford truck. The station wagon had several 5 gallon gas cans and siphon hose located inside.

Officers discovered the station wagon was registered to Martinez. Martinez believed she had outstanding warrants for her arrest, but later provided her true name.

Martinez was placed under arrest for providing false information to a police officer.

A search of Martinez’s person revealed three baggies of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Martinez was booked at the for giving false information to a police officer, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, police said.

The second arrest came after police spotted a man who is on Napa County probation, according to the log:

On 6-8-11 approximately 1000 hours, officers conducted an occupied vehicle check in the parking lot of Quezada Market on Old Sonoma Rd.

Officers contacted suspect Brian Vallandingham (23 years), who is currently on Napa County Probation. Vallandingham consented to a search of his person and was found to be in possession of several prescription pills. The pills were determined to be Hydrocodone.

Vallandingham was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation.

Vallandingham was booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections for possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation, according to the log.
