Fence-Jumping Napa Suspect Arrested After Chase

After a foot and air pursuit Tuesday, Daniel Castillo, 24, of Napa was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of felony resisting arrest and several probation violation warrants.

Fence-Jumping Napa Suspect Arrested After Chase

Daniel Castillo didn’t want to be arrested again. So he ran, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 4 p.m., Tuesday, a sheriff’s deputy patrolling the southeast side of Napa recognized Castillo, 24, while he was walking in the 1000 block of Kansas Avenue, according to Napa Sheriff’s Capt. Leroy Anderson.

The deputy knew Castillo was wanted on outstanding probation violation warrants, Anderson said.

“The deputy pulled his patrol car over to talk to him, and Castillo took off running,” Anderson said.

The deputy ran after Castillo in a short foot pursuit, Anderson said.

“He was running in residents’ backyards, jumping fences,” he said.

The area was blocked off, a permitter was set and the CHP helicopter was dispatched along with Napa Police officers, Anderson said, adding, “We called for a K-9, but one was not available."

Castillo eventually entered a home on Kansas Street and locked himself in the bathroom, Anderson said.

“We are not sure if anyone was in the home, or if they were outside when the suspect entered the home,” he said.

“We were able to talk to him (Castillo,) and he came came out of the bathroom on his own,” Anderson said.

Castillo was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections on suspicion of felony resisting arrest and several probation violation warrants.

Castillo was last arrested in June on suspicion of domestic violence.
