Vineyard Worker Killed in Forklift Accident

The victim has been identified as a Napa resident. Cal-OSHA is investigating. (Breaking)

NAPA, CA — A vineyard worker died Monday when a forklift he was driving overturned on a steep wet road west of Rutherford in Napa County, a Napa County sheriff's captain said.

Arnulfo Pozos, 27, of Napa, was driving the forklift around 4:45 p.m. down Mount Veeder Road when it overturned on the side of the road and killed him, Capt. Keith Behlmer said.

The driver of a flatbed truck passed the forklift and waited for Pozos at the bottom of the hill, Behlmer said. He discovered the accident when he went to search for Pozos.

Pozos was employed by Coastal Viticultural Consultants Inc. of Angwin that does business as North Coast Farming, Behlmer said. Pozos was harvesting grapes when the incident occurred.

The California Department of Industrial Relations Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating.
