Yountville Man Arrested With Lots of Pot, Cops Say

A Yountville driver discovered the hard way that it's not a good idea to illegally pass another vehicle while transporting wholesale amounts of recently-harvested marijuana, according to a message from Napa County Sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart:

On October 29, 2012, at about 8:25 pm, a deputy was eastbound on Yountville Cross Road, east of Finnell Road.

The deputy saw a GMC travelling towards him (westbound) cross over the double yellow lines and pass another westbound car.

The deputy stopped the GMC and contacted the driver (sole occupant), Steven Allen Shields, 50 years old of Yountville.

There was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the GMC. The deputy located two plastic tubs (approximately 2’ x 2’ x 3’ each), a paper bag and a gallon sized plastic bag, all containing unprocessed marijuana.

Shields was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana and transported to NCDC.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for Shield’s residence and found scales and packaging materials, as well as a small amount of marijuana.
