The two incidents are not connected but happened within six hours of each other, police said.

Police are searching for a man who robbed a Chevron gas station at gunpoint Monday night, police said.

Officers responded to the at 5895 Stevenson Blvd. just after 9 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery, according to Commander Bob Douglas of the Newark Police Department.

The man, who was wearing a ski mask, demanded money at gunpoint, Douglas said. He is described as a light-skinned male who is about 5 feet 10 inches tall. See the photo above.

He was last seen wearing dark clothing — including a black beanie-style ski mask, baggy shirt and shorts — black shoes, white socks, gloves and a backpack, police said.

He was last seen leaving on foot eastbound across the parking lot.

Also on Monday, an armed robbery was reported from at 5724 Thornton Ave. just before 3:30 p.m.

That suspect was also wearing a black ski mask but was described as a dark-skinned male, police said. He was last seen running from the store toward . 

Douglas said the two incidents are not connected.
