CDM Boutique Consigns for a Cause

Corona del Mar's Onquestyle expands to a bigger store and introduces a charitable way to consign clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories.

CDM Boutique Consigns for a Cause

A Corona del Mar boutique is celebrating its expansion today with a grand reopening designed to encourage clients to consign their clothes for a good cause.

Kirsten Prosser, and her husband Eddie, are the husband and wife team behind Onquestyle Boutique in Corona del Mar which boasts more than 700 active consignors. The resale boutique carries high-end designer brands including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci and Cartier, just to name a few, and recently doubled in size. Tonight's grand reopening celebration will be marked by a pink carpet event.

"It's not the kind of consignment store you would typically think of, it's more of like a store on Rodeo Drive," Eddie Prosser told Patch. "The person who would not be caught dead in a consignment store in Newport Beach would be proud prancing through our showroom because its elegant and well-merchandised."

To add to its vast collection of designer merchandise, Onquestyle is now introducing clients to its "Your Clothes, Your Cause" campaign which is designed to raise money for local charities. Clients can consign their designer clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories and can make a contribution of any amount of their proceeds to the charity of their choice. Onquestyle will also donate an additional 10 percent to the client's charity of choice.

"We thought it was a great idea to invite people to come in with their clothes or items they are no longer using, consign them and turn around and use the proceeds toward a charity of their choice," Eddie Prosser said.

To kick-off the campaign, Onquestyle recently donated a brand new Hermes Birkin handbag to the Beckstrand Cancer Foundation's live auction at a recent event which received a final bid of $24,000.

"We sell about one Hermes Birkin bag a day," Eddie Prosser said. "We have a network of people who have a large personal inventory of designer items and when something new comes out they want to get get something out of their inventory in order to move onto the newest items."

Onquestyle Boutique is located at 2900 E. Coast Highway in Corona del Mar. The Pink Carpet event will be held tonight from 6 to 9 p.m.
