A cockroach infestation closed a coffee house in Newport Beach last week.
Health inspectors visited Kean Coffee, at 2043 Westcliff Drive, March 26 and discovered:
- Two dead adult cockroaches in the cabinet under the front freezer
- Two live adult cockroaches and three nymph cockroaches in the cabinet under the front freezer
- One live adult and two nymph cockroaches in the food storage cabinet next to the front freezer
- One nymph cockroach on the panel behind the blenders
The inspectors also cited for eight minor violations, including improper holding temperatures for food – in this case milk and creamers –unsanitary equipment and small flies.
The coffee house was allowed to reopen later that day when it got rid of the cockroaches.
