Corona del Mar Man Clinging to Life After Being Struck by Car

Laguna Beach police said today they need the public's help in tracking down a hit-and-run driver who left a pedestrian clinging to life.

Laguna Beach police were called at 3:18 a.m. Monday to the vicinity of 2222 Laguna Canyon Road by a motorist who found the victim in the street, Laguna Beach police Capt. Jason Kravetz said.

Shahram Mokrami-Tehrani, 51, of Corona Del Mar was walking east on the shoulder of the road when he was struck by a dark, two-door sedan, which was also eastbound, Kravetz said. The car has silver or light-colored rims and possible front-end damage, he said.

The victim was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where he remains in critical condition, Kravetz said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Investigators Spring Sendele at (949) 497-0369.
