Did You Grow Up in Newport Beach?

The following is a press release from the Newport Beach Public Library.

The Newport Beach Public Library is putting together a local history project focused on teens, called "Kids These Days, Growing up in Newport Beach."

According to Mara Cota, library assistant for for Young Adult Services, "We're gathering stories and images to produce a a website showcasing the teen experience in Newport Beach both past and present."

The project is a collaboration among library staff and community members of all ages.

"I know we have a wealth of photographic history in our city," says Cota. "So I'm hoping people will share their photos and stories with us for this project."

Staff is looking for photos, from every era, depicting teens around town: at school, on the water, playing sports, at prom or other social events.

Community members interested in in contributing should pick their five best photographs from their middle and high school years and deliver them to the Reference Desk at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave. in Newport Beach.

For more information on this project, call Mara Cota at the Central Library at 949-717-3808 or at mcota@newportbeachca.gov.
