One Person Injured in Newport Beach Boat Fire

Firefighters struggled to put out a fuel fire on a 34-foot boat.

One person was injured today in a fire aboard a docked 34-foot boat in Newport Beach.

Firefighters were called about 4:15 p.m. to a boat slip in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Bayside Drive, said a dispatch supervisor with the Newport Beach Fire Department.

One person was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, but that victim’s gender and condition were not immediately available, the supervisor said.

Firefighters had trouble putting out what was described as a fuel fire aboard the 34-foot boat. They finally got the fire under control at 5:23 p.m., he said.
