A mixture of dogs and cats will be up for adoption Sunday by the Fuzzy Pet Foundation at JustFoodForDogs in Newport Beach.

Pets Up for Adoption in Newport Beach

If you are thinking of adding a pet to your family this year, head over to JustFoodForDogs in Newport Beach on Sunday to meet some adoptable dogs and cats.

The pet adoptions will be held Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at JustFoodForDogs.  The adoptions are being hosted by the Fuzzy Pet Foundation, an all-breed, no-kill rescue organization, committed to stopping animal overpopulation and shelter killings.

Sheila Choi, founder of TFPF, says the group rescues dogs and cats as strays, and many of them are surrendered to TFPF because owners could no longer raise them due to financial and other reasons.

"We also rescue dogs and cats from death-row at animal shelters," Choi explained. "We also take in dogs and cats with special needs who are missing an eye, incontinent or paralyzed. They come from families or animal shelters and we give them a second, third, fourth chance at life."

TFPF rescues, rehabs and re-homes at least 100 dogs and cats every year and helps low-income pet owners with getting their pets spayed/neutered. According to Choi, there are currently six to eight million dogs and cats that enter the animal shelters across the country.

"Half of these are adopted out while the other half are killed for a lack of general resources," Choi said. "Adopting a shelter pet not only saves a life, but it also makes room at the animal shelter for another animal in need."

The adoption fee for cats ranges from $175 - $200 andincludes spay/neuter, shots, de-worming, de-fleaing, fecal exam, microchip, and FeLV/FIV test. The adoption fee for dogs ranges from $175 - $300 and includes spay/neuter, shots, de-worming, de-fleaing, fecal exam, and microchip.

Interested pet adopters can fill out an application at the event, and it will be processed within 48-72 hours. JustFoodForDogs is located at 500 W. Coast Highway in Newport Beach.
