After finding mice droppings in the restroom and near storage racks, county health officials recently closed Mag's Donuts & Bakery in Newport Beach.
During a routine inspection on Nov. 21, Mag's was cited with three major health violations and three minor health violations. According to a county health report, inspectors found "a few droppings on the floor underneath the storage rack" and "some in the restroom."
Other major violations included improper food holding temperatures and inspectors noted wiping clothes were used repeatedly with no sanitizing solution during food preparations.
Minor violations included employee beverages, a purse and sunglasses sitting on the food prep counters and gaps in the ceiling.
The restaurant passed a follow-up inspection on Nov. 23 and was allowed to reopen. It also passed a second follow-up inspection on Dec. 4.
