Woman Dies in Fall from Cliffs at Pirate's Cove

A 57-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after falling more than 30 feet down a cliff in Newport Beach.

A woman died over the weekend after she fell down a cliff at Newport Beach’s Pirate’s Cove.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department, the woman, a 57-year-old Irvine resident, fell 30-40 feet down onto the secluded beach below Saturday morning.

Emergency responders from the Newport Beach Fire Department, Orange County Harbor Department Fire Boat and Newport Beach Lifeguards responded to the scene and found her lying unconscious on the sand at 0:35 a.m.

“Firefighter/Paramedics provided Advanced Life Support before placing the woman in the OCSD Fire Boat for transport to the nearby Harbor Patrol docks, where she was transferred to awaiting Newport Beach Fire Department ambulance,” according to a statement released by the Newport Beach Fire Department. “Newport Beach Firefighter/Paramedics then transported her to a local trauma center for further medical treatment. Unfortunately, the woman, a 57-year-old resident of Irvine, succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the trauma center.”
