Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car in Head-On Crash

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA - A 47-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a car that was involved in a head-on crash in North Hollywood on Saturday morning, police said.

The drivers of the two involved vehicles suffered severe injuries in the crash, which was reported about 10:15 a.m. in the 12100 block of Victory Boulevard, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, according to an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

A 2005 Lexus, heading east on Victory, collided head-on with a westbound 2014 Infiniti, the officer said.

The Infiniti careened into the pedestrian, identified by the coroner's office as Alonso Herrera of Bell Gardens, who died after being taken to a hospital.

The drivers were also hospitalized. An update on their conditions was not available.
