All Lanes Clear After Highway 101 Fire In Novato
UPDATE: All lanes of southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Novato have been cleared after a fire closed all but one lane Thursday afternoon.

As of roughly 2:10 p.m., all lanes of southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Novato have been cleared, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officials said motorists should expect residual traffic to remain in the area for some time.
NOVATO, CA – A box truck and vegetation fire closed all but one lane of southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Novato Thursday afternoon, officials said.

According to the California Highway Patrol's Marin office, only one southbound lane is open between Ignacio and Alameda Del Prado.
CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said the vegetation fire started after a box truck's tire caught fire around 12:25 p.m.

Firefighters from Novato Fire Protection District are on the scene. Fire officials asked motorists to avoid the area.
Motorists should expect delays on both sides of the freeway in the area, officials said.
