Jason Eckl's young musicians are featured on the annual Mountain Play on Mt. Tam this season.

Students from have been performing the past two Sundays in the Mountain Play's production of as the marching band in the finale of the performance.

Sinaloa music teacher Jason Eckl said the students have been excited to be part of such a professional production.

"I'm really excited to be in the marching band because I got to see Man of La Mancha two years ago and it was great," said seventh-grader Alexa Runyan, who plays the drum major.

Eckl said lots of rehearsals and some long weekend practices were worth it when young musicians finally heard the applause from the audience and experienced the thrill of going on stage in front of several thousand people.

"It's fun to perform in front of the audience because it feels great when they applaud for you," said seventh-grader Brittany White.

The shows are at 2 p.m. Sundays through June 17 at Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre at the top of Mount Tam.
