A non-injury fire at an Oceanside condominium complex displaced five people and caused about $150,000 in fire and water damage to two units, fire personnel said Sunday.

Residents were evacuating the four-unit complex at 345 Stagecoach Rd. as fire crews arrived shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, Battalion Chief Terry Collis of the Oceanside Fire Department said. Firefighters and police officers also evacuated nearby units, he said.

Firefighters found a well-involved fire extending from a unit’s kitchen to its living room and bedroom areas, but it was kept from extending to other areas of the building, Collis said. Crews gained control of the blaze at 6:25 p.m, he said.

The fire appeared to be accidental, but its official cause remained under investigation, Collis said.

Two apartment units sustained fire or water damage that was estimated at $150,000.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the five adults who were displaced, Collis said. No one was injured.
