Hotel Power Outage Near Disneyland After Vault Fire
An underground vault fire led to a 240-room hotel losing power overnight, in Anaheim, officials said.

ANAHEIM, CA - A fire in an underground vault near Disneyland sent smoke pouring out of a manhole cover late Thursday night. Emergency repair crews responded to shut off the power at a nearby 240-room hotel nearby.
Firefighters were called out to the 1700 block of South Harbor Boulevard to investigate the nature of the smoke, according to Anaheim Fire & Rescue.
Anaheim Public Utilities crews responded to the location and took over the investigation, a fire department spokesman said.

Crews pumped water into the vault in an attempt to cool down the area for repair teams to get inside, but the water was reported to be at a temperature of 150 to 180 degrees, John Batchman, troubleshooter for APU told a news photographer at the scene. Once the location cooled and the water was pumped out, repairs were expected to begin, Batchman said.
Power at the Grand Legacy hotel was turned off around midnight and crews hoped to have the lights back on before sunrise, Batchman said.
