9 Vehicles, Big Rig Burn On I-10 At Chiriaco Summit

CHIRIACO SUMMIT, CA — Several vehicles sustained heavy damage Sunday evening when a commercial car carrier caught fire on the 10 Freeway in Chiriaco Summit.

The fire was reported at 8:55 p.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway west of Hayfield Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The two-level car carrier was fully involved with fire when firefighters arrived, fire officials said.

Flames were out about 10 p.m. and nine vehicles and the big rig sustained significant damage, but no injuries were reported.
