Burglars Ram Car Into Palm Desert Best Buy, Get Away with Goods

The store was burglarized early Tuesday morning, but store workers didn't realize it until Wednesday.

Burglars Ram Car Into Palm Desert Best Buy, Get Away with Goods

Palm Desert police are looking for the people who slammed a car into the local Best Buy store, and stole "numerous" items from inside.

According to Riverside Sheriff's Corporal Angel Ramos, the incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Best Buy store in the Desert Crossings shopping center.

An alarm had gone off at the store, and police went to check it out, Ramos told Patch.

"Upon arrival [the officers] discovered the rear roll up door had been driven into in an attempt to force entry," Ramos said.

However, according to Ramos, there was "no evidence of actual suspect entry" and no suspect vehicles were located at that time, so police left.

Authorities followed up with the store Wednesday morning, when they were able to access video surveillance footage from the night of the crime, and found out how the culprits got into the store without being caught.

"The video showed a suspect enter through the small opening created by a vehicle pressing the rear roll up door inward," Ramos said.  "Consequently, additional suspects entered the store."

The suspects, dressed in dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts, were able to snag "numerous items" from the store before leaving, according to the corporal.

The investigation is ongoing, Ramos said.  No further information was available.
