CHP Toy Drive Begins in Palm Desert

CHP officers from the Indio-area station are kicking off their annual "CHiPs for KIDS" toy drive to provide a happy Christmas for children that might otherwise be left with nothing under the tree.

The drive will kick off with an event set for 3 p.m. Monday at Walgreens in Palm Desert -- 44840 Monterey Ave. -- according to California Highway Patrol Officer Joseph Zagorski.

It will run until 7 p.m. and will include appearances by television and radio personalities from KESQ Channel 3, KPSP Channel 2 and KPLM-The Big 106; they will be there to collect toys and publicize the need for the public's help.

Until Dec. 19, unwrapped new toys may be dropped off at any Walgreens store in the Coachella Valley, Zagorski said, or else can be taken to the 79-650 Varner Road.
