Crew Knock Down Blaze at Vacant Home Near Mecca

The fire was doused within 30 minutes.

A fire at an abandoned home briefly threatened to spread to surrounding brush Thursday morning but was quickly doused before causing a problem, fire officials said.

The blaze was reported at 7:13 a.m. at what was described as an old, vacant residential structure near Avenue 67 and Lincoln Street, Cal Fire Riverside spokeswoman April Newman said.

Arriving fire crews quickly contained the fire to the structure, putting the blaze out by 7:36 a.m., she said.
