Did You Pass Through Weekend DUI Check In Nearby La Quinta?

Six were arrested.

LA QUINTA, CA - Six people were arrested during a weekend sobriety checkpoint in La Quinta, police said today.

The checkpoint was held from 7 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Washington street and Avenue 47, said La Quinta Police Sgt. Ben Ramirez.

Of the 1,633 cars that passed through, one person was arrested for drunken driving, while another for public intoxication, he said.

Two drivers were arrested for allegedly getting behind the wheel without a driver's license, Ramirez said.

Another two people were arrested on misdemeanor warrants, he said. Sobriety checkpoints are funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
