Hiker Rescued at Palm Springs Hiking Trail
The dehydrated hiker called for assistance and was hoisted by helicopter out of the area.

A dehydrated hiker was hoisted safely out of the San Jacinto Mountains, the Palm Springs Police Department reported Sunday.

The hiker called for assistance at 2:44 p.m. Saturday while hiking at the Cactus to Clouds Trail in Palm Springs, according to Sgt. Frank Guarino of the Palm Springs Police Department.
The hiker was located by the California Highway Patrol Aviation Unit. CHP and the Palm Springs Mounted Search and Rescue were able to hoist him out of the mountains via CHP’s H-60 helicopter, Guarino said.

The hiker was flown to a landing zone at La Mirada and Sunny Dunes roads.
The hiker was evaluated by the Palm Springs Fire Department and was released at the scene, according to the sergeant.
