Injured Climber Rescued by Firefighters

The climber was flown to a nearby helibase and then taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries

An injured rock climber was safely airlifted out of the San Jacinto Mountains, the Riverside County Fire Department reported Sunday.

Firefighters reported to the scene at 6:48 p.m. Saturday at Suicide Rock, a popular rock climbing destination at about 7,000 feet elevation, said Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The patient was airlifted out of the mountains by a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter.
