La Quinta Man Appointed to State Water Resources Control Board

Joaquin Esquivel, 34, previously served as assistant secretary for federal water policy at the California Natural Resources Agency.

LA QUINTA, CA - A La Quinta man was appointed Wednesday to the State Water Resources Control Board, according to Gov. Jerry Brown's office.

Joaquin Esquivel, 34, previously served as assistant secretary for federal water policy at the California Natural Resources Agency and served in several positions under U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer from 2007 to 2015, including research assistant, legislative aide, legislative assistant for water and agriculture issues and director of information and technology.

Esquivel, a Democrat, also was a center youth manager for Gay Associated Youth from 2002-04.

The post, which requires Senate confirmation, comes with a compensation of $142,095, according to a statement from the governor's office.
