Local Poet Helps Others Heal Through the Power of Language
Palm Desert local Brian Michael Tracy helps others to heal through understanding how language affects our everyday lives.

As human beings, we are often in search of something within ourselves. Whether trying to find our niche or finding ways to heal emotionally and spiritually, there are a variety of approaches that can aid in getting closer to the answers. Psychology is usually one of the main approaches to healing, however, the combination of poetry and psychology is a new technique that many are using that can also help to achieve a deeper connection with the inner self.
Palm Desert local Brian Michael Tracy was in search of deeper spirituality through yoga practice and meditation while trying to cure an ailing back. After just a year of practice, he was able to achieve his Samadhi, a deep spiritual awakening which inspired him to create music and poetry. Since then Tracy’s work has appeared in various magazines, and on spoken word radio programs throughout the United States and Canada. He is also the author of three books of poetry and released two critically acclaimed CD’s of music and poetry.
Tracy has partnered with Dr. Robert Romanyshyn, author of seven books and over forty articles in psychology and various fields, to combine the power of language through poetry and psychology. Their main goal by interconnecting the two fields is to provide discussion and a path to self discovery and healing through the power behind language.

“Psychology as literally the “logos (study) of psyche (soul)” has been instrumental in our Western cultures in the exploration of the “unconscious” and, in the process, putting together a Western paradigm of Ego in relation to Soul. The Depth Psychology writings of Carl Jung, James Hillman, and Robert Romanyshyn and others for me speak most closely in western terms to my experiences with yoga, poetry, mindfulness, etc. Depth Psychology I believe has the ability to speak as much or more to our fundamental human and spiritual capacities as any other western discipline I am aware of,” said Tracy.
While many have wondered how psychology and poetry could possibly help one heal, Tracy further explained the interconnectivity. “There seems to me a deep relationship between Poetry & Depth Psychology. Both use language (psychology of course being the “talking cure”); both, at their best, seek to listen to and translate in an informed manner the speech of soul; and both seek to help the reader/listener/participant with new interpretations, expressions, and associations.”

After popular demand, Brian Michael Tracy and Dr. Robert Romanyshyn will be discussing in detail the power of language and poetry through their webinar The Healing Power of Language: Conversations Between a Psychologist and a Poet April 8, 15 and 22. Tracy and Romanyshyn invite all to explore their inner self and heal.
“I think that anyone who seeks a greater understanding of themselves and their place in the world has something to gain by attending. After all, Poetry, Psychology, Dream, Myth, Creativity, Language…these are all topics, all wonderful endeavors, that touch us deeply, and to become more aware of them is to become more aware of the topography of your soul. What is more exciting or enthralling than that?” said Tracy.
