Man Brandishes 'Gun,' Threatens Medical Center Employee: Cops

PALM SPRINGS, CA – An Indio man who allegedly threatened a medical center employee with a replica gun today in Palm Springs was quickly taken into custody, police said.

Lizandro Colindres, 38, was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal threats and brandishing a replica firearm and was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, said Palm Springs police Sgt. Paul Abshire.

Colindres is accused of making threats with a fake gun at 9:37 a.m. at the Palm Springs Family Care Center at 1515 N. Sunrise Way. An employee contacted police and provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle, Abshire said.

The vehicle was spotted heading east on Ramon Road, near Gene Autry Trail, and was stopped by a Palm Springs police detective after it entered Cathedral City, according to the sergeant.

The replica gun was found inside the car, Abshire said.

He said a woman who was inside the car with two infants was determined not be involved in the incident and was released.
