Man's Body Found in La Quinta, Prompting Road Closures

LA QUINTA, CA — The discovery of a man's body in La Quinta Thursday led authorities to shut down multiple intersections surrounding the scene.

The unidentified man's body was found around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Fred Waring Drive and Dune Palms Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Foul play was not suspected in the man's death, deputies said.

Law enforcement closed down eastbound Fred Waring Drive at Dune Palms Road, westbound Fred Waring Drive at Monticello Avenue, and northbound Dune Palms Road between Miles Avenue and Fred Waring Drive. Drivers were advised to avoid the area during the investigation.

Sheriff's Deputy Armando Munoz said the closures were just for "precautionary purposes," allowing investigators to look into what happened while unimpeded by local traffic.
